Hi, my name is Mezey Sándor (Sándor is the first name). Before I graduated as an MSc architect in 2009 at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, I was interested in interior- and total design, and later when I started working at Zakariás András’s studio in 2011 I had the opportunity to get acquainted with materials and detailing in his joinery and locksmith workshop, and I knew I found my place in interior design.
In this same period, between 2011 and 2014, I improved and passed over my knowledge of design theory and conceptual thinking at the Faculty of Architecture’s Department of Residential Building Design at Budapest University of Technology and Economics as an external lecturer while teaching Space Composition, Fundamentals of Architecture and later Residential Building Design.
I was eager to learn more in interior design, so in 2015 applied and in 2017 I graduated as an interior designer at Budapest Metropolitan University.
In 2014 I founded my own studio called Hion design, and during the 8 years of its operation I worked on diverse scale of architectural and interior design projects, such as AISB’s interiors, Thália Theater’s studio stage, the entrance of the Hungarian plant of Emerson Process Management, Penthouse suits of Hotel Velence Resort & Spa.
Although these were heterogenous projects, I aspired to work on bigger scale, therefore I joined ARC-S Group as leader of architectural department for a year, then in 2022 MádiLáncos Studio, where I currently work as project leader.
